Lynn Bartels, reporter: I grew up in South Dakota with a Republican father and a Democratic mother who squabbled over politics, which is why I think I enjoy the Colorado legislature. I attended two colleges: Cottey College, where I got an associate of arts degree in 1977, and then Northern Arizona University, where I graduated in 1980 with a journalism degree. My first job was with the Gallup (N.M.) Independent, and my first interview was Robert Redford – seriously. He was judging the Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial. I then worked at The Albuquerque Tribune for nearly 10 years before joining the Rocky at 8:58 a.m. on July 16, 1993. My hobbies include telling my siblings how to raise their children, and playing the lottery.
