Daniel Chacon, Reporter I got my start in journalism at the Santa Fe New Mexican, first as an intern covering crime at night and then full-time as the crime and courts reporter. After about four years, I got restless and went to work for the competition -- the Journal North, which is the Santa Fe bureau of the Albuquerque Journal. A few months later, I received an unexpected call from sunny San Diego and landed a dream job at the San Diego Union-Tribune, where I worked for about five years covering public safety, city government and then county government with a focus on watchdog journalism. Looking to make a change and move closer to northern New Mexico, where all my family lives, I was drawn to the Rocky, where I've been covering the city and county of Denver and the administration of Mayor John Hickenlooper since October 2005
