Broncos look for free-agent help in secondary

Published February 24, 2009 at 4:30 p.m.

The Denver Broncos appear to be heavily focused on rebuilding its secondary in free agency.

The Broncos likely will not only try to land one of the top cornerbacks on the market - the group is led by Buffalo's Jabari Greer, Tampa Bay's Phillip Buchanon, Pittsburgh's Bryant McFadden and St. Louis' Ronald Bartell - but will try to buttress its thin reserves at the position with an experienced veteran.

The Broncos also are making it known they will be players in the safety market. Miami's Yeremiah Bell, New England's James Sanders and Tampa Bay's Jermaine Phillips are at the top of the list, though Bell is working toward a new deal with the Dolphins.

Cleveland's Sean Jones and Oakland's Gibril Wilson are also on the radar.
