A bill requiring school districts to post their expenditures on their Web site passed easily today in the Senate. The vote was 26-8.

SB 57 by Sen. Ted Harvey, R-Highlands Ranch, now goes to the House.

The measure in effect requires districts to post their checkbook registers, showing where money went. Employee paychecks will not be disclosed by name.

Some small school districts that don't have Web sites or have crude Web sites are exempt from the bill.
